Kokone Ichinose wants to be a singer-songwriter. Holding on to her father’s words, she keeps writing songs while working part-time. To be a singer: that one dream is all she has. After high school she skipped college, making a living at a restaurant while writing songs and busking on the street.
No fans, no followers. Still, Kokone keeps writing. Her only comfort is Yumeka, her senior from high school. Once in the light-music club together, Yumeka now works at an advertising agency, building a career. Once a month the two meet for dinner or a day out to catch up. As long as she could see Yumeka once a month, Kokone could forget whatever pain she carried.
In October, as winter approaches, Yumeka calls. Let’s go hiking this month. It’ll clear your head, and maybe some good lyrics will come. They gather their gear and set out. But the mountain weather turns, and the two lose their way. Kokone twists her ankle and can no longer walk. She grows weaker. As her consciousness fades, her feelings for Yumeka grow stronger and stronger…
